Btrfs-progs, the user-space utilities to the Btrfs file-system, has seen a number of improvements in recent days that provide new features.

Committed to the btrfs-progs Git repository (the web short-log) in the past week include a number of commits for the repository that otherwise hasn't seen activity since the beginning of September while the last time it's really seen this much activity was back in July.

Besides offering fixes like correcting the man page and taking care of incorrect values and memory leaks, the btrfs-progs updates in the past week allow adjusting the bufsize in logical to inode translation, support for deleting multiple sub-volumes, the -a and -t and -g -c --sort options for the sub-volume list command, enhancing Btrfs sub-volume listings, and various other new options.

For those wondering, the Btrfs repair support from the "dangerdonteveruse" branch were already merged to master.

The latest btrfs-progs code can be obtained from its Git repository.

If you missed it, the Btrfs file-system has new improvements in Linux 3.7. To be published in the coming days on Phoronix are also new Btrfs vs. EXT4 vs. XFS vs. ReiserFS vs. Reiser4 file-system performance benchmarks. There's also a new Btrfs file-system tuning article looking at the performance of various mount options from the Linux 3.7 Git kernel.
