Here Are The Steam Survey Results For Linux During August 2016
The start of the new month brings a new percentage about the estimated Linux gaming population as measured by the Steam survey.
Of course, if you're new here, take the Steam Survey results how you want but note it's just a randomized Steam survey and not necessarily very accurate. There's also issues like the survey not being presented to SteamOS / Big Picture users, some believing the survey is somehow bias towards Windows, etc.
Anyhow, the Steam survey for August 2016 reports the overall Linux market-share at just 0.83%, or a +0.02% boost over the month prior. As usual, Ubuntu and Linux Mint are among the distributions topping the Linux representation.
Basically, little-change so far for the Steam Linux gaming popular this calendar year as measured by the survey: it's generally floating around 0.8~0.9% these days of the overall Steam population. Windows was at 95.71% and OS X at 3.34%.
You can see the latest Steam Survey results here. Keep in mind this is the Linux gaming population while generally the Linux desktop population is cited as 2~2.5% based upon various Internet figures.
