Linksys Begins Shipping The WRT1900AC

Belkin announced today they are starting to ship the WRT1900AC, their WRT54G open-source router successor that now supports 802.11ac and other modern features. Belkin is working on open-source OpenWRT support for this new router.

While Belkin/Linksys is pushing the WRT1900AC as an "open-source ready wireless router", many Phoronix readers have voiced complaints over it due to Belkin's lack of early support to OpenWRT and that the router is rather expensive; the WRT1900AC has a retail price of $279 USD.

While the WRT1900AC 802.11ac WiFi router is expensive, it does have Gigabit WAN/LAN ports, one eSATA / USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, a 1.2GHz dual-core ARM CPU, 128MB of flash memory, 256MB of DDR3 RAM, and four exchangeable external antennas.
