QEMU 1.3.1 Brings In A Bunch Of Fixes
The first (and only planned) point release to QEMU 1.3 is now available. The QEMU 1.3.1 release fixes just over two dozen bugs, including critical issues for OpenBSD guests.
QEMU 1.3 was originally released in early December with many interesting features. QEMU 1.3 introduced support for the Linux VFIO driver for PCI device assignment to virtual machines, Loongson Multimedia Instructions support for MIPS, MIPS32/64 ASE DSP instruction support, the TCG generator supports Intel SMEP/SMAP x86 functionality, single-precision floating-point instruction support for Xtensa, USB re-direction now supporting live migration, improved USB 3.0 support, a para-virtualized hardware random number generator device, new block jobs, seamless migration support for SPICE, various other SPICE improvements, and many other changes and new features throughout the QEMU processor emulator project.
Officially, QEMU 1.3.1 includes 29 build/bug fixes. The release announcement specifically points out "a number of critical fixes for OpenBSD guests." This appears to deal with disabling semaphores fallback code on OpenBSD.
Other QEMU 1.3.1 fixes take care of issues with QXL, Xen, Win32-AIO, VFIO-PCI, and other components of QEMU.
The QEMU 1.3.1 release announcement with more details can be found on qemu-devel. QEMU 1.4 is up next with new features, to be released in the coming months.
