Slackware 14.1 Adds UEFI Support, Updated Software

While Slackware is one of the oldest Linux distributions around, with its design on stability and simplicity it hasn't always been quick to adopt new features and functionality. Thursday marked the release of Slackware 14.1 and it's the first release to ship with x86_64 UEFI system support.

Slackware 14.0 was released last year and since September Slackware 14.1 has been in beta, but as of yesterday the official release is now available.

Slackware 14.1 ships with the Linux 3.10.17 kernel, the 64-bit Slackware operating system has support for installing and booting on systems with UEFI firmware, there's updated versions of the Xfce and KDE desktops, and many other Slackware software packages have been updated.
