LINUX GAMING
Many Windows gamers and computer enthusiasts are familiar with Unigine's very impressive technology demos (i.e. Unigine Tropics and Unigine Heaven as the first DirectX 11 benchmark), but it seems not too many are familiar Unigine OilRush. This is the first game coming out of this studio and it's an oil-focused real-time strategy with support for Windows / Linux / Mac OS X / PlayStation 3 and we're giving away a few more copies of this computer game.

OilRush was announced by Unigine Corp last September and then in December we managed to secure exclusive access to an early development build. Being built atop the Unigine Engine, the graphics were mighty impressive and the Linux support was first-rate. However, lots of other work was left to be finished. This resulted in Unigine Corp pushing back the planned release date to this summer, but in early March they opened up the pre-order process so members of the public could get access to their beta builds if ordering this title over the Internet.

Since then, the Russian developers began work on a Mac OS X port of OilRush (now available to pre-order users), forthcoming Steam support, plans for a mobile version (Android / iOS), and other milestones achieved. This week, Unigine Corp then released a new beta build with various improvements.

In celebration of Phoronix turning seven years old next week (5 June) and Unigine Corp putting out a new beta build, we're going to give away a few more copies of the game (in late March we had also run a OilRush giveaway). We'll be giving away at least two copies (that we buy, to support Linux gaming) and hopefully Unigine Corp will be able to throw in a few more licenses as well. Winners though can run OilRush on their preferred OS of Windows, Linux, and/or Mac OS X.

Here's how to enter the OilRush giveaway:

- Follow @Phoronix on Twitter; the official Phoronix account where new articles and news items appear.
- Follow @MichaelLarabel on Twitter; the feed where information about upcoming Phoronix stories, Linux notes, beer thoughts, Q&A with readers, and more is offered.
- After following both accounts, then re-tweet: "@phoronix @michaellarabel are giving away the #Unigine #OilRush game http://goo.gl/BRJUs" (or anything to that effect).

It's that easy to enter. Winners will be notified on the 6th of June via Twitter. Those interested in pre-ordering the game directly can visit OilRush-Game.com and to learn more information about this inaugural title from Unigine Corp.
