While we continue to be taken away by Unigine OilRush and other projects, for those without access to these new titles and not impressed by the recent Humble Indie Bundle #2 or Zero Ballistics 2, there is a new alternative: Warsow 0.6.

Warsow 0.5 was released in August of 2009 but this Qfusion-powered first person shooter (and Phoronix Test Suite benchmark) is now being succeeded by Warsow 0.6.

Warsow 0.6 delivers on a number of new game maps, improvements to existing maps for improved visuals and other restyling, brand new weapon models for a more unified and modern appearance, a new game type, and new music. The new game type is Capture The Flag - Tactics.

Besides in-game improvements, Warsow 0.6 has an updated engine that delivers on more realistic lighting along with other improvements along with lower-latency network code and higher frame-rates due to engine performance optimizations.

The release announcement and download links can be found at Warsow.net.
