Warsow Update Delivers New Maps & More

Warsow 0.5 introduces new settings for weapons, armor, and its movement system. This game update also introduces AngelScript game-type scripting, as a way to encourage more gamers to create their own custom game-types without requiring too much work on their behalf -- at least compared to working on the Warsow game engine directly. There are three new game-types officially added in this major update and they include team domination, Headhunt, and bomb & defuse.
With the team domination game-type, players are on one of two teams and their team must try to capture all points on a map while still protecting the points that they have captured. In headhunt, one player is tagged and then all other players on the map must try to kill this individual player. Lastly, with bomb and defuse, there are teams that are focused on destroying and defending two different bomb sites.
Additionally, there are updated game assets for Warsow 0.5 when it comes to new maps, textures, player models, engine features, visual effects, and weaponry. For what it's worth, the new maps in Warsow 0.5 are called wdm2, wdm18, wdm19, wdm20, wctf4, wctf6, wca3, wbomb1, and wbomb2. Warsow 0.5 has also gained the ability to support Quake 1 and Quake 2 maps within this game. The new weapon that has been added is a machine gun.
For those watching but not playing Warsow, the Warsow TV component has picked up new features too. Warsow TV can now handle renamed channels, users can join Warsow TV channels from a warsow:// URI, new information about the game being played, the ability to record demos, and Warsow TV servers now show up within the Warsow server browser.
This article just covers some of the features and changes that can be found in Warsow 0.5. For a complete list of changes, visit the project's change-log and this game can be freely downloaded for Linux (and other operating systems too) at Warsow.net.
