New Code Starts Lining Up For X.Org Server 1.17
X.Org Server 1.17 will continue with refining the in-server GLAMOR code that was merged with 1.16 for 2D acceleration in a generic manner over OpenGL. X.Org Server 1.17 is also looking to integrate the universal KMS mode-setting DDX driver. Keith Packard on Monday also shared several other code branches he's looking at as material for the 1.17 release.
Among the work that the Intel employee has been doing and plans to land includes cleaning up the X Registry, disabling the TCP listener by default for better security, various bug-fixes for GLAMOR, Present Extension bug-fixes, Present support for GLAMOR X-Video code, and switching GLAMOR over to using an OpenGL core profile context. With the GLAMOR OpenGL context switch, an OpenGL 3.3 core context will be required so that the code can take advantage of texture swizzling.
More details on this various work by Keith Packard for X.Org Server 1.17 can be found via his blog post.
