KTAP Released For Linux Kernel Dynamic Tracing
Version 0.1 of KTAP has been released to provide a new scripting dynamic tracing tool for the Linux kernel.
The open-source KTAP allows for dynamically tracing the Linux kernel through its scripting language in order to tune and troubleshoot the kernel or even to extend it. The GPL-licensed project is easy to use and aims to give users/developers the power to explore the kernel at low-levels in new ways.
Current tracing features in KTAP 0.1 is Intel x86 32-bit and 64-bit support, tracepoints/syscalls/kprobes/kretprobes support, timer handling, dumpstack, and many built-in functions/library calls are available.
