CodeWeavers has discovered that someone has gained unauthorized access to the WineHQ database system via phpMyAdmin. The complete database to WineHQ was downloaded, including log-in credentials. There are no signs, however, that the database on the server was modified or that other areas of the server infrastructure were affected.
All user passwords for the application database and BugZilla have been reset. CodeWeavers has also eliminated all external access to the Wine database.
"I am very sad to have to report this. We have so many challenges in our world today that this is a particularly painful form of salt for our wounds," says Jeremy White in the unfortunate email.
This attack comes just weeks after Kernel.org was compromised along with the Linux Foundation.
