Ubuntu 11.10 is codenamed the Oneiric Ocelot, which is perhaps the most unique Ubuntu codename to date, but going up against Mark Shuttleworth's next distribution update will be Fedors 16. What's the codename for that next Red Hat release? It might be called a Beefy Miracle.

Following name proposals from last month where various community members suggested potential codenames for Fedora 16, the Red Hat legal team and Fedora board have narrowed down the list. Among the suggested names were Bacon, Dreadlock, Rasputin, and Barona.

The list of narrowed down codenames now include Barona, Beefy Miracle, Bonnet, Legation, Llullaillaco, Mt. Orne, Nepia, Omoto, and Verne. The names are mentioned on the F16 voting page. Fedora codenames continue to go down an odd path with the reliance upon its contributors for the names and voting.

Fedora 16 voting is going on until next week.
