xf86-video-intel 2.14.0, Intel 2010Q4 Released

Not only was Mesa 7.9.1 / Mesa 7.10 released last night while I was on my way back from the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas with a shiny new Sandy Bridge, but Intel came forward to release their xf86-video-intel 2.14.0 DDX drver and then their 2010Q4 package.

The xf86-video-intel X.Org driver release announcement for version 2.14.0 can be read on the mailing list. Besides a quarter worth of bug-fixes, the only major new addition to the Intel X.Org driver is the addition of the Intel Sandy Bridge support for those with these brand new CPUs and H67 motherboards.

With the xf86-video-intel 2.14.0 driver update out there, Mesa 7.10 arriving, and the Linux 2.6.37 kernel having been released, Intel declared their 2010Q4 package. This quarterly package simply recommends using the xf86-video-intel 2.14.0 driver, Mesa 7.10, libdrm 2.4.23, Linux kernel 2.6.37, Cairo 1.10.2, and libva 1.0.7. X.Org Server 1.9.3 is also recommended by Intel. These are also the package versions needed for those wishing to take advantage of Sandy Bridge Linux graphics.
