Early Fedora (well, back then, Fedora Core) releases were codenamed Heidelberg and Stentz, among others, but with the community coming up with the names we have been getting more creative like with Fedora 13 being named Goddard. The list of the six candidates for the Fedora 14 codename have been listed this afternoon and they include Fytnargin, Hoppin, Laramie, Laughlin, Mitikas, and Ventnor.
Fedora contributors are encouraged to vote for their favorite. Information concerning the Fedora 14 codenames is available on the Fedora Wiki. Is it just me or is this the worst selection of possible codenames for Fedora yet? Could Fedora 14 really be known as Fytnargin? (It's apparently a Russian mountain.)
The official codename for Fedora 14 will be announced next week.
