In addition to NVIDIA releasing the 378.13 big feature release, this morning they also announced updates to their two legacy drivers.

NVIDIA has updated their pre-Fermi driver as well as their oldest maintained legacy driver for older GeForce 6/7 series hardware. But you're not seeing the new features of the 378 series in these older legacy driver branches.

What these two legacy driver releases provide are support for X.Org Server 1.19 (X Server ABI 23) and a fix for a bug in the NVIDIA installer for loading kernel modules built against non-running kernels. There should also be support for newer Linux kernel versions in this release.

The NVIDIA legacy releases are 340.102 and 304.135.
