Manjaro Linux Developers Experience A Mass Exodus [Updated]
According to multiple sources, there was a major exodus of Manjaro developers. Manjaro is the popular Arch Linux distribution derivative that's easy and quick to setup and has been pleasing many Linux enthusiasts for the past months as their distribution of choice. Manjaro had been in beta since last year and most commonly shipped with the Xfce desktop environment but other options were also supported. Sadly, those days could be numbered as it appears at least eight of its developers have discontinued their contributions to the project and just left is reportedly just the Manjaro project leader.
The project leader of Manjaro is Philip Müller; other (former/current) Manjaro contributors can be found via Manjaro.org. I'm still working on finding out more about this exodus but it appears to be over some friction amongst the developers' feelings/egos with some confirmation via the Manjaro Forums and Arch Forums.
Update: According to some other Manjaro developers emailing me and posting in the forums, Phil isn't the only developer left on Manjaro but others are still involved; apparently there's an issue of some developers being impersonated right now, etc. More details being worked on.
Update 2: Some more information has come out about a troll account and Phil has now come out with some comments and also said, "Manjaro will still exist and we have now some issues to deal with. We are sorry to all those projects trusting on us. This issue has grown now and not only our forum is now affect. The team is in direct contact with those forums and projects. It even went so far that people using our pictures and impersonate us. Not only me but other team members as well. Friends, we will pass this issue together and it also shows how strong we are, truly. I thank you all having you in my team and doing Manjaro together."
