Enlightenment 0.18 Released With Many New Features

Enlightenment 0.17 was released one year ago as of this weekend and now the developers behind this very compelling lightweight window manager have released Enlightenment DR 0.18, the next major release.

Given that Enlightenment 0.17 (E17) was under development for 12 years, it's great to see Enlightenment 0.18 coming out much faster: just one year later, as they planned for earlier this year.

Enlightenment 0.18 merges compositing into the core winow manager and makes compositing now a requirement. The compositing window manager is more stable than E17 and now has Wayland client support along with a new teamwork module.

Enlightenment DR 0.18 also has a new music-control module, bluez4 BLuetooth module, an AppMenu DBus module, and a conf_comp module for controlling compositor settings.

Making this annual Enlightenment update more exciting is also better systemd integration, the internal theme merged into Elementary, RandR and binding config domains have been split into separate files, and many file-manager improvements. Enlightenment's file manager improvements for version 0.18 include UDisks2 support, more accurate directory listings, and other improvements.

Enlightenment 0.18 all around should be much more feature-rich and more stable than the 0.17 release from last December.
