Wine 7.22 Released As The Freeze Nears For Wine 8.0

Wine project leader Alexandre Julliard issued a Black Friday release with Wine 7.22.

Wine 7.22 implements 32-bit on 64-bit thunks for both Vulkan and OpenGL, the OpenLDAP library is now bundled and built in a portable executable (PE) format, there is now support for the RAW print processor within WinPrint, more printf format conversion work, and various bug fixes.

Wine 7.22 has 38 known bug fixes affecting various games, VBScript, USB, and other bits.

Looking ahead, Julliard is planning to begin the Wine 8.0 code freeze with the Wine 7.23 development release on 9 December. Following that it's onto the release candidates and then issuing the stable Wine 8.0 release in early 2023.
