Michel Dänzer of AMD today announced the xf86-video-ati 7.7 DDX driver release with improvements for those using the open-source AMD Linux driver stack.

The xf86-video-ati 7.7 release now supports using the TearFree rendering option when the display is using rotation/reflection, RandR CRTC transforms now work correctly, the RandR 1.4 provider names have been cleaned up, other RandR tweaks, the driver now supports more than 256MB of vRAM for scanout buffers (such as if wanting to make a massive virtual desktop of over 8K x 8K), a hang fix with DRI3 when using DRI3 over a display connection forward by SSH, and many DRI3/Present fixes.

Overall it's a hearty xf86-video-ati driver update with the complete list of 40+ changes being found via the release announcement.
