Today marks the release of Qt 6.8 as not only a new feature release but also the latest long-term support (LTS) release for this open-source, cross-platform toolkit.

The Qt 6.8 LTS release introduces an XR module for new user experiences and allows for the development of Qt software on the likes of the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 XR headsets. Qt 6.8 also now has official support for the Raspberry Pi 5 and NVIDIA AGX Orin hardware.

Qt 6.8 also brings enhancements to lower memory usage -- up to 32% lower RAM consumption -- and faster start times for Qt apps.

Qt 6.8 with Qt Graphics brings full support for 3D data visualization, custom data and audio post-processing within Qt Multimedia, more Qt Quick features, improved shadows and materials with Qt Qucik 3D, and a variety of other enhancements.
