The new work in the Intel 2.16 driver is landing of Ivy Bridge X Render and X-Video acceleration support, shared render buffer allocations for Mesa with Ivy Bridge, 30-bit deep-color support, and the still-experimental SNA (Sandy Bridge New Acceleration) architecture.
Bugs fixed in this release include misuse of resource database causing crashes after DRI clients close, crash on large strings, incorrect rendering for some core drawing operations, and crash in X-Video due to insufficient checks on batch space.
The latest driver code for xf86-video-intel can be obtained from Git.
