A New Year Brings A New NVClock Beta

Thanks to the community support, the fourth NVClock 0.8 beta brings improved GeForce 8/9 support, initial GeForce GTX 200 series support, smart dimmer support for a number of new laptops, video BIOS parsing fixes, fan-speed adjustment support on newer NVIDIA GPUs, improved thermal monitoring support, and various other fixes.
Let's just hope another beta or final release of NVClock 0.8 will not be another year out. We first talked about NVClock 0.8 in 2005 and the second 0.8 beta came in late 2006 followed by the third beta last January. However, with NVIDIA providing support for CoolBits overclocking and thermal monitoring within their own Linux driver, some of the benefits of the open-source NVClock program have been defeated.
If you're interested in checking out the latest version of NVClock it can be found at LinuxHardware.org.
