Canonical today shipped Mir 2.18 as the latest version of this set of open-source libraries for assembly Wayland-based shells. Mir 2.18 brings a number of new features including Wayland server-side decorations.

The Mir 2.18 release adds new input configuration options, xdg_decoration_unstable_v1 for Wayland server-side decorations support, Wayland decorations strategy, support for the wp_viewporter protocol, merging x11-kiosk, support for fractional scaling with the wp_fractional_scale_v1 protocol, and support for servers to dynamically update their input configuration.

Mir 2.18 also fixes a number of bugs and other issues affecting prior Mir releases. Ubuntu 24.04 is also now the primary development base for Mir rather than Ubuntu 22.04.

Downloads and more details on this morning's Mir 2.18 release via GitHub. Overall it's a big one ahead of Ubuntu 24.10 now that there is fractional scaling with wp_fractional_scale_v1 as well as server-side decorations support.
