Developers Have Until Next Week To Finish More GL4 For Mesa 11.0
The Mesa 11.0 code-base will be branched next week from Git master in order to release the version as stable in mid-September.
Mesa 11.0 is going to be a monumental release. The current Mesa 10.6 series implements OpenGL 3.3 while as of today core Mesa supports OpenGL 4.2 while Nouveau NVC0 and RadeonSI drivers are at OpenGL 4.1. LLVMpipe, Softpipe, Nouveau NV50, and Radeon R600g are also still at OpenGL 3.3 compliance.
There's until next week Friday for RadeonSI/NVC0 to gain OpenGL 4.2 support or for the other drivers to step ahead in the GL4 world. On Friday, 21 August, will be the 11.0 feature freeze and first release candidate. Weekly release candidates will follow while the official Mesa 11.0.0 release is tentatively planned for 11 September, but that could be pushed by a week or more if additional RCs are needed.
Emil Velikov remains the Mesa release manager and he posted a reminder about the 11.0 schedule today to the Mesa-dev list.
