Firefox OS 2.0 Developer Preview Gets WebNFC, H.264 Hardware Encode/Decode

Besides releasing Firefox Developer Edition today, Mozilla also has Firefox OS 2.0 news with making the latest developer preview available for the Flame development phone.

This developer preview of Firefox 2.0 features more than 5,300 patches over Firefox OS 1.3 over the past half year. One of the big new additions to Firefox OS 2.0 is NFC support. Firefox OS 2.0 supports the WebNFC APIs for allowing P2P communication between devices with NDEF support.


Additionally, this developer preview of Firefox OS 2.0 comes with H.264 hardware encoding/decoding support for WebRTC. Last but not least is a Developer HUD for allowing app developers an easy way to measure performance, memory use, and other system vitals.
