Red Hat's RHEL7 RC ISO Is Now Publicly Available

For anyone wishing to try out the release candidate to the upcoming Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 operating system release, the ISO is now publicly available.

Last week Red Hat released the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Release Candidate and initially it was just made available to Red Hat's partners, OEMs, ISVs, etc. However, as planned, this week they have opened up the release candidate to everyone.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 features the GNOME 3 desktop (for those using it on workstations), switches from EXT4 to XFS as the default file-system, Docker container support, better virtualization support, new file-system enhancements, and many new/updated software packages. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 is roughly based off of a mix of software components from Fedora 18~20.

For those that haven't yet tried out RHEL7, there's my impressions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0 Beta while now I'm in the process of trying out this release candidate. Overall I have had nothing but great experiences of RHEL7 in its development form so far. Oracle Linux 7.0 is also in public beta form now and based off of upstream RHEL7. I'll be delivering new Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 benchmarks shortly on Phoronix in the coming days.
