Rolling-release models, such as the models deployed by Arch Linux and Gentoo, have been popular with many Linux enthusiasts to the point of trying to make Fedora a rolling-release or switching Ubuntu's model. With Sabayon 8 being the "first Extreme-Rolling Release distribution", according to Sabayon's Fabio Erculiani, this means automated repository package version bumping with Entropy's Matter ebuild tracker.
Sabayon 8 ships with the Linux 3.2 kernel, GCC 4.6 compiler, Btrfs support, Java 7, and Entropy Framework 1.0_rc86. Desktop environments include the usual GNOME 3.2.2, KDE 4.7.4, and Xfce 4.8, but Cinnamon and Razor Qt have also been made available.
More information on the Sabayon 8 Linux release can be found via their web-site.
