Fedora 17 For ARM Goes Into Beta
While Fedora 17 should be released next week, the ARM version is lagging behind and has just reached its own beta milestone.
The Beefy Miracle for ARM isn't in quite as good shape as the i686 and x86_64 binaries, but at least now it's reaching beta. This architecture is handled by a separate Fedora (ARM) community team.
Fedora 17 Beta for ARM images are available in ARM and ARMhf (hard-float) versions. There are Fedora ARM packages that contain a minimal root file-system, a file-system with X packages, and the full-blown Fedora ARM package-set that includes the Xfce desktop environment. For these three sample file-systems there's arm and armhfp versions for armv5tel and armv7hl. For the root file-systems without kernels there's then targets of the Trim-Slice, BeagleBoard XM, iMX, and Versatile Express (QEMU).
The Fedora ARM state isn't quite as nice as Ubuntu ARM, but progress is being made. For additional information or download links visit the Fedora 17 ARM Beta release announcement.
Meanwhile, the final Go/No-Go meeting for the Beefy Miracle will be held later today to determine whether Fedora 17 is ready to ship next week (29 May) or will be delayed by yet another week.
