RADV Is Now Considered A Vulkan Conformant Driver

The open-source, unofficial Radeon Vulkan driver "RADV" developed independent of AMD by the community and contributors at Google and Red Hat is now considered a conformant driver.

RADV is considered a conformant Vulkan 1.0 driver for the Radeon R9 285 but in effect all Volcanic Islands GPUs when using Mesa 17.2 paired with LLVM 5.0. Sea Islands and Polaris GPUs should also be seeing conformant results submitted in the future too.

David Airlie announced the conformance milestone today via his blog.

This open-source "community" Radeon Vulkan driver went through the Khronos certification process via the Khronos + X.Org Foundation adopter program for encouraging open-source implementations of their API standards.

Also exciting for RADV that beyond this morning's RADV Mad Max optimization, Airlie has pushed another commit boosting the Mad Max Vulkan performance by another 3~5 FPS when running at 4K. Some of Dave's benchmark results can be found on Openbenchmarking.org.
