The Latest Fun In Mesa 3D This Weekend

A number of prominent changes have landed within Mesa in the past few days. If you haven't updated to the latest Git lately, here's some of what you're missing out on.

Some of the latest Mesa 11.1-devel Git activity in the past three days include:

- DCC and DCC fast clear support for the AMD RadeonSI Gallium3D driver, along with associated patches.

- The AMD Stoney PCI IDs are now in Git. As confirmed by Alex Deucher in the forums, Stoney isn't the new embedded R-series processors but rather not-yet-released APUs from AMD.

- Various VC4 commits for this Raspberry Pi Gallium3D driver, including some NIR-related work. As written about already, the Raspberry Pi KMS driver is coming to Linux 4.4 but it will not yield any power management or hardware accelerated support; you'll still need to be using the out-of-tree driver for now if you want to make use of the VC4 Gallium3D driver code.

- Virgl landed and its related vtest driver. This is what allows QEMU/KVM with VirtIO to finally have 3D accelerated guests! You'll also need to be using the Linux 4.4 kernel and other updated Linux virtualization code.
