Peter Hutterer has announced the release of xf86-input-libinput, the X.Org driver for making use of the libinput library under X11 environments.

Libinput is mostly focused on providing unified input support for Wayland compositors, but via xf86-input-libinput makes it possible to use this generic driver on the X.Org Server. Fedora 22 is among the first distributions defaulting to xf86-input-libinput rather than the few other input drivers out there.

The xf86-input-libinput 0.9 driver has some cosmetic changes, a new set of properties, and other changes. Those interested in more detail can read the xorg-announce list.
