The Threaded Input Support In X.Org Server 1.19

Well known input developer Peter Hutterer of Red Hat has written a blog post explaining more of the details of input threads for X.Org Server 1.19. This work has been a long time coming but it's finally been in Git the past few months and the X.Org Server 1.19 release is being put together for a release before the end of October. The input thread work was originally talked about back in the X.Org Server 1.10 days (~2010)!
If you want to read more details about the threaded input work that's in for xorg-server 1.19, see his blogspot post.
Given the complexity of dealing with threads at scale especially in the X.Org Server, Peter does end his blog post by warning, "But what the test suite can't test is normal everyday use. So until we get some more code maturity, expect the occasional crash and please do file bug reports. They'll be hard to reproduce and detect, but don't expect us to run into the same race conditions by accident."
