Confirmation Of Substance Designer Being Ported To Linux
Substance Designer is a node-based texturing tool and is quite advanced software. Up to now Allegorithmic's Substance software has just been available for Windows and OS X, but now it's being ported to Linux.
A Phoronix reader pointed out this Allegorithmic forum thread that's been active since last year about porting the Substance Designer software to Linux.
Their administrator posted this week, "It is hard actually [porting the software to Linux] ;) But the good news is, we have people working on it right now."
Unfortunately, details beyond that are scarce like when the port will be released, but it's being pushed natively to Linux with OpenGL support.
This Physically Based Rendering software has integration support for game developers with Unity 5, Unreal Engine 4, among other non-gaming engines and applications like 3DSMax and Maya. Learn more about Substance Designer via this product page.
