Over the next 18 months they are set to receive 688k EUR for this work to add new SMB3 UNIX extensions, SMB over QUIC, transparent failover, and other new features.
Those wishing to learn more about this big investment into the widely-used Samba software can find the details on SovereignTechFund.de. This follows the likes of GNOME, Coreutils uutils, and many other open-source software infrastructure projects receiving big investments from this program backed by the German government.
