The Nouveau DDX X.Org driver, xf86-video-nouveau, hasn't supported NVIDIA's GTX 750/900 Maxwell graphics processors even though there's been the reverse-engineered, open-source support within the Nouveau DRM kernel driver and NVC0 Gallium3D Mesa driver. Patches revised today implement Maxwell support for the X.Org driver.

Maxwell support hadn't come previously to the Nouveau DDX since things "just work" when using xf86-video-modesetting generic DDX driver paired with GLAMOR for 2D acceleration over OpenGL. Now, however, prolific Nouveau contributor Ilia Mirkin has published a set of seven patches to get accelerated Maxwell support working in the Nouveau DDX. He also thinks this code should also provide much of the bring-up for GP10x Pascal support too in the DDX driver.

This is the second version of his Maxwell DDX patches and implementing the support adds close to two thousand lines of new code. More details via the Nouveau patch series.
