AGEIA Responds, Talks PhysX On Linux
Coincidently, on the same day that the Unreal Tournament 3 Linux server was released, AGEIA had finally responded to our inquiry whether PhysX is delaying UT3 for Linux. AGEIA has also clarified their stance regarding Linux support.
AGEIA's VP of Marketing, Michael Steele, had let us know that he isn't aware of any pending legal issues regarding Unreal Tournament 3 and its Linux support. This is good news, though now leads us to wonder if GameSpy is then the one inhibiting the UT3 Linux support (there is also a discussion about it on the Phoronix Forums).
Michael Steele had also reiterated that AGEIA supports Linux for their PhysX SDK and any interested developers can check out their website for more information. In addition, AGEIA has plans to ship a Linux driver for their PhysX PPU (Physics Processing Unit) in the future and its on their road-map.
We're still working out more details on the Unreal Tournament 3 debacle for Linux and will report back soon, along with any other AGEIA Linux news.
