Mozilla Puts An End To Firefox OS

Mozilla has announced they will stop selling Firefox OS smart-phones and are putting an end to its development.

With Firefox OS really not taking off after two to three years of work, Mozilla Corp has decided to cease the development of this Linux-based smart-phone operating system and they will no longer be offering the devices. Sales are low on Firefox OS devices and Mozilla's statement today to TC cites the user experience as a reason for abandoning this effort. Firefox OS was ported to a fair number of devices, but just couldn't compete with Android and iOS.

With Jolla not doing too well either, it will be interesting to see how Canonical positions the Ubuntu Phone efforts going into 2016 and if they'll be able to last the fight with iOS and Android. It will also be interesting to see what comes of KDE's Plasma Mobile initiative seeing as they're the latest to the party.
