Jens Axboe, the block layer maintainer for the mainline Linux kernel and is also responsible for lots of the other block and disk related work within the Linux kernel, is Facebook's newest employee. Jens Axboe had been working along side Chris Mason and other kernel developers at Fusion-io for the past few years -- also since leaving Oracle -- but now they've crossed paths again at Facebook.
Jens officially announced this change of employers today on the kernel mailing list. He wrote, "I have decided to leave Fusion-io, after about 3.5 years there. It's been an interesting ride and I would not have been without it, but now it's time to try new things. As can be deducted from above, I am now at Facebook. For fio, very little will change. On the linux kernel side, I now have more time to dedicate to continuing blk-mq development, and other interesting developments. I look forward to that!"
