Libreboot Gets Support For An Older Core 2 Desktop Motherboard
While the Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L is a motherboard from nearly a decade ago and is powered by the Intel G41 + ICH7 chipset combination, as of today it now has support in Libreboot for being able to initialize the hardware without any binary blobs.
With this commit, the Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L motherboard has been ported to Libreboot -- the separate flavor of Coreboot that is purely free software supported without depending upon any binary firmware/microcode blobs or other closed software.
The G41M-ES2L is a board designed for Intel Core 2 Extreme/Quad/Duo/Pentium processors, has a micro-ATX form factor, and sports two DDR2 memory slots.
