Three Years Later, FBDEV Drivers Still Active In The Linux Kernel
Sent in this morning were the fbdev changes for Linux 4.3. The FBDEV work for Linux 4.3 includes just "minor fixes and cleanups." There's been nothing new on the "deprecate FBDEV" front now since Laurent Pinchart's talk back in 2012.
On a different but somewhat related note, at least the call for killing the Linux kernel's CONFIG_VT and the related mayhem is slowly progressing. Since systemd 217 there's been the new user console daemon but I haven't yet seen any major Linux distribution prefer it over the aging CONFIG_VT code in production.
One other quick update to the article last month about DirectFB appearing gone, DirectFB.org is still M.I.A.
