Possible SATA Power Management Improvements For Linux

Around a year ago Matthew Garrett was working to improve Serial ATA power management for recent Intel generations of Intel hardware (Haswell and newer) but he ran into some SATA errors he was unable to reproduce himself. He's now taken a fresh stab at this SATA power management and is hoping more will test out these new patches. These patches should allow the systems to enter lower-power PC sleep states.
He's spun patches against Linux 4.5 as well as Linux 4.6 Git master. Those wishing to help out or learn more about these potential SATA power management improvements, learn more via this blog post.
