100 Tests & Counting For Linux Benchmarking

Among the recently added test profiles are dbench (another disk test), gmpbench (a GMP test profile), pgbench (PostgreSQL testing), tiobench (Threaded I/O Tester), Crafty (an advanced chess engine), opstone-vsp (CPU Vector Scalar Product), opstone-svsp (CPU Sparse-Vector Scalar Product), opstone-svd (CPU Singular Value Decomposition), cachebench (a memory cache test), and apache (Apache benchmarking). This is also in addition to a number of new test suites. All of this latest work can be found in the latest Git code for Phoronix Test Suite 2.0. Another milestone was also broken and that is the Phoronix Test Suite now contains more than 40,000 lines of code.
With Phoronix Test Suite 2.0 Alpha 1 not even having been released yet, you can be sure that many new tests and suites are still on the horizon. Besides many new tests and suites, Phoronix Test Suite 2.0 "Sandtorg" will introduce Phoromatic for providing remote test management capabilities, PTS Linux Live for an optimized Linux distribution catered to benchmarking the latest and greatest hardware, a new abstracted hardware/software device API, and numerous other improvements to pts-core. This is the most advanced and extensive testing platform for Linux and other free software operating systems. More information about these ongoing efforts can be found in Driving Linux-based Benchmarking With Sandtorg.
Phoronix Test Suite 2.0 will be released later this summer. If you are interested in getting involved with this open-source automated testing software, stop by the forums or the project web-site and mailing list.
