Mir-Powered Miracle-WM Continues Tacking On New Features Ahead Of Fedora Miracle
Miracle-WM as the Mir-powered Wayland compositor inspired by i3 and Sway is out with another new release. It's rather ironic that while Miracle-WM is principally developed by a Canonical engineer associated with Ubuntu Linux, these recent Miracle-WM releases are being driven in part by preparing for a Fedora Miracle spin due out as part of the Fedora Linux 41 release in October.
Miracle-WM lead developer Matthew Kosarek continues polishing up Miracle-WM ahead of its showcase as the Fedora Miracle spin this autumn with Fedora 41 while I haven't seen any signs of an official Ubuntu Miracle spin as part of the upcoming Ubuntu 24.10. Kosarek wrote in Monday's v0.3.3 announcement:
This follows the prior release two weeks ago that was also focused on preparing for Fedora Miracle. Fedora Miracle though is not to be confused with the Fedora project's prior Beefy Miracle codename.
Miracle-WM 0.3.3 brings IPC improvements, a "--no-config" launch option to load without any configuration file, a "miracle-config-path" option to specify an arbitrary configuration file, and other changes.

"The sprint to the first version of the Fedora miracle spin continues. In this release, we've added a few important quality of life things, like being able to specify the path to a configuration or no configuration at all. On top of that, we've continued with even more refactoring work around containers, in preparation for a fuller i3-ipc implementation. A proper minor release should be happening at the end of September so stay tuned."
