Ubuntu's Utopic Unicorn 14.10 Beta 1 Released

The Ubuntu flavors issuing 14.10 Beta 1 releases today are Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Xubuntu, and Ubuntu Cloud. Ubuntu itself isn't tagging any formal releases yet in the 14.10 cycle but Canonical just encourages testing of their daily ISO images.
Kubuntu 14.10 is continuing to stick to KDE Plasma 4 but the KDE Frameworks 5 stack with Plasma 5 will be a tech preview option. There's also a separate Plasma 5 ISO spin available via the announcement at Kubuntu.org. On a similar note, Lubuntu 14.10 is sticking to the GTK-based LXDE this release rather than migrating to the in-development LXQt.
Those wishing to find out about the various updates found in these latest release images can read the release announcement.
Ubuntu 14.10 "Utopic Unicorn" is expected to be officially released on 23 October while coming up next is the final beta on 25 September, kernel freeze on 9 October, and the Utopic final freeze on 16 October.
