Realtek ALC299/ALC1220 Support, Intel Audio Updates In Linux 4.11
Takashi Iwai has submitted the sound subsystem updates for the Linux 4.11 kernel with most of that work happening in the audio driver space.
To be supported with the Linux 4.11 kernel are the Realtek ALC299 and ALC1220 codecs. This is good news particularly the ALC1220 codec as it's appearing in many Intel Z270 (Kabylake era) motherboards from a variety of different motherboard vendors.
The sound updates for Linux 4.11 also have Intel HDMI LPE audio support for Baytrail and Cherrytrail hardware. There is also a number of Intel sound driver updates around DisplayPort/HDMI audio for Skylake and newer hardware.
The sound code in Linux 4.11 also has channel mapping support for HDMI, support for the Allwinner A31 and A33 ASoCs, new quirks, and other fixes and updates.
