Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the most graphically demanding game available for Linux right now. When testing out Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, the Radeon HD 4890 was still 16% faster than ATI's previous highest-end single-GPU graphics card.

Unigine Sanctuary is a wonderful OpenGL test developed by our Phoronix Test Suite allies at Unigine Corp. Here the Radeon HD 4890 wound up being 20% faster than the Radeon HD 4870 (and 47% faster than the Radeon HD 4850).

While Unigine Sanctuary is a great test with impressive graphics, Unigine Tropics is even more stunning. Unigine Tropics really sets a Linux OpenGL precedent for being beautiful and capable of torturing the graphics card. The Radeon HD 4890 was 17% faster than the Radeon HD 4870, but even with all of the power the RV790 provides, the frame-rate with Unigine Tropics was less than 30 frames per second.
