AMD Ryzen 9 7900X / Ryzen 9 7950X Benchmarks Show Impressive Zen 4 Linux Performance
One of the areas I am always most eager to test out with the new CPUs... The compile time performance.
There is terrific speed-ups moving form the Ryzen 9 5900 series to Ryzen 9 7900 series if frequently compiling code.
The Ryzen 9 7950X desktop processor was able to build the Godot game engine in just over 50 seconds!
Or the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X can achieve a default Linux kernel build in just under 40 seconds! The Ryzen 9 5950X meanwhile took one minute.
The AMD Ryzen 9 7900 series were much faster than the prior AMD Zen 3/2 processors for code compilation thanks to the Zen 4 improvements as well as benefiting from DDR5 memory. But the faster build times did also lead to higher power consumption from the Ryzen 9 7900 series processors.
But if frequently compiling code on your desktop/workstation, the AMD Ryzen 9 7900 series shows itself to be a very strong choice for a developer system.
