Mono-Focused Xamarin Buys Out RoboVM
Miguel de Icaza and Nat Friedman's Xamarin company, which continues to focus on Mono solutions especially for C# apps iOS and Android, has acquired RoboVM.
RoboVM specializes in creating native iOS apps within Java as a way to share apps/projects between iOS and Android while having a native user experience and performance. Xamarin has bought out RoboVM to better position themselves as a cross-platform mobile development company for C# and Java, per today's press release. RoboVM is basically to Java for mobile as Xamarin is to C# with Mono.
RoboVM has written a blog post about the upcoming changes as a result of this acquisition. They'll be continuing to move to Java's beat while benefiting from Xamarin as a company and be able to offer more to their customers.
