Preparing For The Linux 3.1 Kernel

Linus Torvalds is expected to release the Linux 3.0 kernel today. He has announced that the last-minute bugs that held up the Monday release should be addressed and he's preparing for the Linux 3.1 kernel merge window to be opened.

Linus wrote a message to the Linux kernel mailing list surrounding the 3.0 release and the forthcoming 3.1 developments. The 3.1 merge window is going to be opened during Torvalds' summer holiday, due to the 3.0 release delay. This may result in an extended merge window period, but he's encouraging all developers to submit their pull requests early if possible. Linus will again be diving for his summer holiday.
