GCC 4.5.0 Compiler Released
Version 4.5 of the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) was running behind with too many regressions being left open, but only a few weeks ago they cleared their P1 regressions and then put out the GCC 4.5 release candidate. Now, already, GCC 4.5 has been officially released.
The GCC 4.5 announcement was made at GNU.org. Changes from GCC 4.4, which was released almost one year ago, include the use of the MPC library to evaluate complex arithmetic at compile time, C++0x improvements, automatic parallelization as part of Graphite, support for new ARM processors, Intel Atom optimizations and tuning support, and AMD Orochi optimizations too.
The lengthy list of GCC 4.5 changes can be found on this page. GCC 4.5 will be making it into Fedora 14, Ubuntu 10.10, openSUSE 11.3, and other distributions pushing out later this year.
